Messages from 2011
2011 – a year that most of us will never forget.
I know I never will:o)) There are several messages that I will take away from 2011.
The first message that I will take away from 2011 is life can change in an instant! The events on March 11th proved this point yet again. Mother nature is almighty and can never be controlled. Live your life to the fullest each and every d...ay!
The second message is that you should never be willing to compromise when compromising takes you to a lower level.
Life should be a process of building your career, relationships, and happiness to higher levels year after year.
To be sure, there will always be unscheduled events and surprises in life that slow us down, but to willingly lower your level is a sign of weakness and cowardliness.
I hope each of you will be strong enough in life to maintain your professional, ethical, and moral levels to the best of your ability.
The third message is that I am more confident than ever that HIUC has some of the most talented young people in all of Japan!
HIUC instructors continue to be amazed at the production, progress, and potential (PPP does not only stand for PowerPoint Presentation:o))) of HIUC students.
I have been working with Japanese young people for almost two decades now, and not once have I ever stopped believing in each student’s ability to achieve whatever he or she sets as a goal.
Learn to believe in yourself! Your HIUC instructors and staff will always believe in you! I can tell you that some of you make me want to pull my hair out sometime, so that is why I am HAPPY to be bald!!:o))) However, I will ALWAYS believe in your potential! I have many current and past students that prove me correct each and every day.
I thank those students every morning I wake up and walk to work because those students provide me the motivation and source of energy that maintains my passion to teach. The fourth message is the world has become more competitive than ever!
To be successful in the global community will require a great education, a sustained positive attitude, a high level of aggressiveness, and a willingness to adapt to changes in an effective and efficient manner.
Those who want to maintain the status quo will simply be left behind!
The final message is the importance of surrounding yourself with positive people.
